Adam D'Amato

Adam D’Amato joined the team between 8th grade and freshmen year. He has been working on build for three years now. Outside of robotics Adam has a workshop and works for a professional blacksmith making medieval weaponry and armor. He probably has accumulated more hours cutting things than the average person has hours reading.

Alexa joined the team in the summer of 2015 between her 8th grade and freshman years. Most of her time on the team is focused on build team; however, she is also interested in electrical. Outside of the build space, Alexa participates in soccer and basketball. She also really likes reading in her free time.

Anthony Viola is a second year programmer on the team, however, he was part of a middle school robotics for three years. Outside of robotics, Anthony plays piano and is part of the Forest Hills drum line. He loves to eat pizza with a fork and knife.

Connor is a second year member on the team. He joined the team the summer prior to his freshman year after hearing about the team from middle school recruitment. Connor is a programmer, but wants to expand into the CAD and electrical teams. Outside of robotics, Connor finds joy in playing trumpet for the Forest Hills Central Marching Band.

Hampton Pettinger

Hampton is a second year member on the team. He started in the fall season of his freshman year after moving to Michigan from Minnesota. Hampton has done programming for his whole freshman year on the team but definitely would like to learn and do more with electrical. Hampton likes to build computers and is a trombone player in the Forest Hills Northern Marching Band.

Jacob Cieply

Jacob Cieply joined the team the summer before his freshman year. He has worked on mechanical, electrical, and CAD projects. He is currently the team’s safety captain and handles some of the team’s financial documents. Jacob enjoys running in his spare time and plays french horn, mellophone, and jazz trumpet.

Jake Lohrke

Jake became a part of the robotics team his freshman year summer, making this his third year on the team. He focuses himself on marketing, but also maintains connections to the electrical and build teams. Jake is currently involved in a competition with his twin brother (see Josh Lohrke) to decide who can grow out their hair the longest, Jake says he is going to win. Outside of school Jake plays the trumpet in the marching band alongside running a small company with his siblings.

James MacWilliam Aidala is a freshman who joined in the summer of 2015, mainly doing activities in the CAD, electrical, and build teams. His other extracurriculars include the Indian Mounds Rock Club and marching band. James’ hobbies include video gaming, rock hounding, and photographing mushrooms. Currently, he has over 10 boxes of rocks that he has either collected or bought.

Josh Lohrke

Josh joined robotics at the start of his sophomore year. He focuses his time on the team mostly to build, but he is looking into electrical and will really do any job someone needs him to do. He is in charge of our excellent scouting app. Josh has a twin brother, both of which are in the band. Josh plays the trombone in band and takes lessons for it on the side. He also runs a small company with his other siblings.

Julian started his robo-journey before his freshman year, making this is second year on the team. He mainly focuses on CAD but has considered trying out Coding. Outside of Robotics he plays the Cello and Tennis. In his free time he likes to read books or relax to get away from his busy school schedule.

Mallory is in 11th grade and this is her second year with the COMETS. She works on build and electrical. Aside from robotics she plays the marching sousaphone, the tuba, ice hockey, field hockey, basketball, swim, and tennis. She is an active participant in Rotary Interact Club and speaks fluent Spanish.

Michael is a first year member of the robotics team, starting in his sophomore year of high school. He doesn’t really have a job at this point but works mostly in build. Outside of robotics, Michael plays viola in his school orchestra. He also maintains a collection of old baseball cards given to him by his grandfather, carefully cataloging and pricing them.

Nick is a sophomore going into his second year on the team. He joined last summer as a freshman. He is a part of the programming team and focuses on writing code for autonomous mode. Over the summer his friends and family have a spoon hanging contest to see how many spoons can you hang on your face. He also plays the tenor saxophone.

Olivia is in 12th grade and this is her forth year. She specializes in pneumatics, electrical, and build as our build captain. She also assisted in the creation of the COMETS website.

Olivia is a fourth-year member on the team. She became involved during the summer of eighth grade. Olivia is a primary member of the marketing department, but also enjoys working on the robot during build season. Working best when busy, she is involved in marching band and plays trombone in the Forest Hills Central Wind Ensemble and jazz band. Her favorite movie is How to Train Your Dragon. Olivia owns 210 pencils, 150 books, and 14 cassettes.
