Chris Mosentine
|
Chris Mosentine is a mentor helping with the building of the various field elements. Chris received his BS in Geological Engineering from Michigan Tech in 1981. He worked for 15 years as a consultant focusing on the remediation of groundwater pollution. Chris decided to change career paths and in 2000 received an MS in Information Systems from Grand Valley State University. He is now the Director of Information Technologies for a medical group. This is his second year helping out the team.

Chris Turley
|
Chris Turley is a mentor for the team, helping students in the areas of mechanical build, electronics, and Computer Aided Design. He also has experience in customer service and sales, working as presenter for Lectra.

Deb Thomas
|
Deb Thomas is in charge of communication for the team. She also represents the team at board meetings. This is her third season being involved in mentoring.

Mike Viola
|
Mike Viola is a third year mentor for The COMETS, previously having mentored for FTC teams for three years. He assists the team in programming and electrical aspects, with his degree in Computer Engineering from Michigan State University and a degree in Systems Engineering from University of Michigan. Mike is employed as an avionics engineer, previously having worked for the Johnson Space Center.

Paul D'Amato
|
Paul D’Amato is a current co-coach of The COMETS robotics team, alongside Tim Peterson. Paul has coached The COMETS robotics team for five years, now beginning his sixth. He has a Masters of Business from Northwestern, and a Bachelors in Computer Science from the University of Illinois. Paul D’Amato is also an avid fan of both technology and fly-fishing.

Paul Robertson
|
Paul Robertson is a second year mentor for The COMETS. He ensures the team follows safety protocol in addition to his aid to the build aspects of the team. He was previously a member of the NAVY, and now assists the team with his buoyant personality.

Richard Maloney
|
Richard Maloney is a second year mentor for The COMETS robotics team. He is originally from Bradford England, graduating from Loughborough University with a Bachelors of Engineering. Richard has previously worked for Land Rover and General Motors Truck Division as a safety and crashworthiness engineer. He helps the team out with many mechanical aspects, both building and designing.

Rick Engvall
|
Rick Engvall was previously a member of the Navy and, after four years of service, attended Grand Valley State University. He then went on to start his own business, involving mainly custom made parts, from gearboxes to mold form to castings. He is currently retired and is now aiding The COMETS for his third year.

Sheryl D'Amato
|
Sheryl D’Amato has been cheering on The COMETS for six years as a parent, and has been mentoring for two. She oversees the software team, implementing and guiding them through their second year of LabView. Sheryl D’Amato works as a software engineer with Tim Peterson at Performance Software.

Terry Pettinger
|
Terry is a mentor for the team helping with field build and assorted tasks. Terry has an education degree in Industrial Arts and is a senior product brand manager for SpartanNash. Terry has been involved in robotics in varying capacities since his sons were in middle school.

Tom Strizinger
|
Tom Stritzinger serves as a board member for the COMETS, also working closely with many of the team’s sponsor relationships. Outside of helping the COMETS, Tom Stritzinger is a banker and investor with an MBA from West Michigan University with a focus in finances. For fun outside of robotics, Tom enjoys riding his bike.

Urbano DaGama
|
Urbano is on his third year of assisting The COMETS, mainly aiding the team with its programming and electronics, but also with mechanical and design aspects. Urbano graduated from the National Institute of Technology Rourkela with a Bachelor of Engineering, Electrical Engineering. He is currently employed by Dematic, an important sponsor for the team, working in proceeds improvement and information technologies.
