All – Competition Time is Near! Info regarding competitions is below. As you may already know, a district competition and the state competition (won’t know if we are in this until the second day of the Lansing competition) book-end our spring break week. We need to confirm hotel arrangements, etc. for these events so I am asking that either a parent or student complete this 4 question survey ASAP: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/8J9L8MC Again, Lansing on these dates wasn’t the teams choice, we simply didn’t get into an earlier competition. Overview of Competitions: GVSU March 21-22 (advance team will go out the evening of March 20 to deliver the bot and set up the pit – members TBD); the 21st will be an excused absence from school. Carpool arrangements will be made – please let me know if you are available to drive and when (Friday to GVSU, Friday home, Saturday to GVSU, Saturday home). Schedule: Pits open at 8 a.m. both days; opening ceremonies at 10:30 a.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday; matches end at 7 on Friday and awards are at 5 on Saturday; pits close at 8 on Friday and 6:30 Saturday. Lansing – Mason H.S. April 4-5 (advance team will go out the evening of April 3 to deliver the bot and set up the pit – members TBD. They will stay the night). Carpool arrangements will be made – please let me know if you are available to drive and when (Friday morning to Mason H.S., Friday evening Mason to hotel, Saturday hotel to Mason, Saturday evening home). Team members will be staying at the Best Western Lansing, 6820 Cedar (9 miles from venue). Parents, you are welcome to make arrangements on your own. Team members will be staying at the Ann Arbor Regent, 2455 Carpenter Road, Ann Arbor (5 miles from venue). Parents, you are welcome to make arrangements on your own. No event schedule is posted at this time, refer to above district competitions for general info. Lastly, I will be providing a TBD crockpot of “something probably on a bun” for lunch on Sunday (February 9). If anyone would like to contribute cut veggies, fruit, cookies or canned beverages it would be appreciated! I have some chips from the kick-off. The kids and mentors are working hard to get things done before the robot needs to be bagged and I think a bit of a break/change of pace would be welcome.
